Nothing
more than Peter's heavy-handed method of sneaking his feeble darling,
Under Venus, into print after he miraculously had accumulated enough clout
to do so. Here at Popham, we have a term for such tactics, and the term
is, well, perhaps not "bullying," but "strongarm tactics"
comes near enough. The maudlin "Introduction" is at all costs
to be avoided except in cases of severe sugar-deficiency. When his publishers
graciously arranged for a mass-market paperback edition of the above-mentioned
feeble darling, Peter responded in typical fashion, i.e. by moving to
another firm or "house."
